This
is a Saratoga Springs pupfish (Cyprinodon nevadensis nevadensis),
one of the other inhabitants of Lake Tuendae. For more information about

This
is an exotic
mosquitofish (Gambusia affinis). They
inhabit Lake Tuendae although they can be found just about anywhere.
They carry the parasite Asian tapeworm (Bothriocephalus achelognathii)
making Gambusia a possible vector for the tapeworm to the Chub. While
not deadly, tapeworm infestation most likely would not not a benefit
to the Chub.

is Mohave Chub (MC) Spring. It too is located on the Mohave National
Preserve in Zzyzx, California. It is the only known true "refugia"
for the Chub was initially used to create the man-made refuge at Lake
Tuendae from which other "refuges" have been stocked. |

Zzyxz to develop a new plan for the recovery of the Chub. |
This
is a picture of Camp Cady just as the river approaches the Cady Mountains.
This is where the water of the Mojave River that flows underground begins
to well to the surface.

This is a series of pictures taken during a fish survey at Lake Tuendae.
The fish were weighed, measured, tagged, and recorded before being released
back into the lake. The people in the pictures are members of a workshop
that took place in Zzyzx. The purpose of this workshop was to develop
a new plan for the recovery and down listing of the Mohave tui Chub. |
