APPLE VALLEY - Molly Estes hopes to find a home at her school for one of the Mojave River's endangered creatures. As a senior at the Academy for Academic Excellence, the charter school at the Lewis Center for Educational Research, Estes has become an expert on the small fish - the Mojave tui chub. The tui chub is native to the Mojave River, though it now only exists in a small spring on the river and other three refuges.
