Juarez, Aric. "Soda can Add 20 pounds a Year." Daily Press [Victorville, CA]
4 May 2003

Students that regularly drink soda can add about 20 pounds of extra weight each year. The average male student consumes 2.2 sodas per day while the average female student consumes 1.8 sodas a day. I a student drinks two or more sodas a day (each soda containing approximately 100 calories), this adds up to more than 73,000 calories a year. Divide 73,000 by 3,500 (calories that equal 1 pound of weight) and you have 20 plus pounds of extra weight a year./p>
