Letters to George: Students from the Academy for Academic Excellence write to U.S. President George W. Bush after reading about him and Air Force 1 in the Scholastic Reader.

Students from Donna Hackney's second-grade class at the Academy for Academic Excellence in Apple Valley recently read about President George W. Bush and Washington D.C. in the Scholastic reader.

"The article mentions that Air Force 1 has 85 telephones," said Hackney. "That seemed amazing tot he students and they mention if often."

Hackney shared some of her students' letters with the Daily Press. The letters have not been edited for grammar or spelling.

Dear President Bush,

I like to be president wen I grow up because I can change the rules. And I can help people to. And I can have horses pull me when I am president. - Monica, age 7

Is it hard being President? You're my favorite President. I read about you. Air Force 1 has a lot of phones! Thank you for being our President. - Aydan, age 7

I'm amazed of you to have 85 phones in your plane. I only have 8 phones. How do you handle all the ringing? I can deal with 8 for now. - Janelle, age 7
