The Association of California School Administrators is an organization with more than 30 years of service dedicated to championing public education.

Every year the ACSA invites schools to nominate various leaders in education and in the community.

The Lewis Center submitted a nomination for Berg as someone deserving of the 2003 Outstanding Media Coverage of Public Education Award.

The nomination consisted of an essay describing Berg’s work and copies of articles she has written about education.

The academy reported that Berg has consistently reported on education issues in a fair, straightforward and honest manner. She is interested in the educational environment and does a great job of covering all the school in the High Desert, not just for AAE, Corporate Relations Manager Cheryl Thompson said. She is a worth candidate that represents the educational community with outstanding media coverage, Thompson added.

Berg, a longtime resident of the High Desert, is active in the community. She teaches a high school class at her church, thus having some understanding of what it is to be a teacher.

Berg’s various volunteer trips to Mexico and other countries to help in medical and educational situations have contributed to her broader worldview.
